There is nothing like a sweet scented candle. The ambiance cannot be beat. This candle only requires a few simple things.
The ambiance of a candle cannot be beat. There is something about the light flickering and sweet smell that gets me every time.

I normally enjoy diffusing essential oils in our home. It is much easier to manage with little fingers and toy trucks smashing everywhere. I can place a diffuser out of reach, while also in more central locations. Something about a candle flame makes me nervous with my kids. Another downside to candles is all the artificial products they are made with. Most of these are harmful to our bodies.
While candles do get a bad wrap sometimes, I have been missing the the glow of a candle lately. I really enjoy closing down the kitchen, and making breakfast preparations for the next day with my candle going in the background. The benefit to this candle is all the ingredients are all natural, so there is no need to worry about “extra” yucky stuff. The whole candle comes together rather quickly as well. You’ll be enjoying your own homemade essential oil candle in under an hour.

How to Make an Essential Oil Candle

Ingredients
To make an essential oil candle you will need a wax, glass jars, cotton wick, and essential oils. Two options for wax include soy and beeswax.
Beeswax is a great option for making candles naturally. The beeswax is able to “neutralize” the air getting rid of allergens, dust, mold, and odors. The burn is a bit slower than others, meaning your candle will last a little longer. Beeswax is also used for a variety of other household products.

Essential oils are a great option for adding a nice aroma. Also less harmful, it makes it easy to customize your candles. While the scent will not be as strong as those store-bought candles, the light scent will be pleasing still.
Listed below are the exact ingredients and tools I used.

Directions for one 4 oz. candle
- Melt 1 cup of beeswax pellets and 1/4 cup of coconut oil in boiling water on the stove top.
- Using a pot holder or towel, carefully pull out of the water and stir in drops of your favorite essential oils.
- Pour a small amount into the jar and position the cotton wick. Then proceed by pouring in the remaining amount. Wrap around a pencil to hold in place.
- Allow the candle to cool and cut off excess wick. Then light and enjoy!
